Hong Kong and Shanghia Banking Corporation, Dear Sir Francis,
31, Lombard Street, Landon, May 22, 1911, CHINESE currency loan. I enclose copy of a telegram which I received from the French on Saturday evening, stating that they now agree to the first instalment of 400,0001. of the preliminary advance on account of expenditure in Manchuria.
As the Germans and Americans have already agreed, the consent of the French would appear to remove the last obstacle in the way of the currency loan.
